Key Aspects of Australia’s Defence Strategic Review | Geoff Miller | AIIP

Monday, 3 October 2022

Holding Redlich

The Albanese Government on August 3 announced an independently led review to consider the Australian Defence Force's posture and structure. It said the Defence Strategic Review would help the Department of Defence to better understand where it should prioritise investment. This would ensure the Australian Defence Force was well positioned to meet the nation's security challenges through to 2033 and beyond. Two Independent Leads, former Minister for Defence, Professor the Hon Stephen Smith, and former Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Sir Angus Houston, AK AFC (Ret'd), have been appointed to lead the Review. They will deliver the Review and its recommendations to the Federal Government in early 2023. Geoff Miller will speak about the issues that will shape this process.
